    Description

    This is a beautiful Guan ware green celadon glazed small brush washer dish. The crackle is a golden brown. It is from the Song Dynasty (A.D.960-1279). The base and bottom rim are not glazed and are fired to a reddish brown color. The celadon glaze drips down the outside of the lower base stopping at the bottom. The main part of the bowl has some blue stain marks. They are not in the crackles below the surface of the glaze. I just don't want to remove them because they might be some ancient paint of some sort. This is truly a lovely small almost perfect specimen of Guan ware. There are a few small pits in the glaze which were there upon firing. Otherwise, no nicks, chips, or cracks and no repairs.

    Provenance: Acquired many years ago in Indonesia in Jakarta from a Chinese collector and then purchased by the current owner, a Pebble Beach, CA estate.
